Mohammad Yeasin, a victim of a gas stove fire in Dhaka’s Keraniganj, has succumbed to his burn injuries, taking the death toll in the incident to six.
Yashin died at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery around 7:30 am on Thursday. With the latest death, all six burnt in the blast died.
Dr SM Ayub Hosen, resident surgeon of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery said that six people, including women and children, were admitted to the burn institute due to gas fire in Keraniganj. Yashin, the only survivor among them, died this morning. 40 percent of his body was burnt.
Apart from Yashin, 20-year-old Shahadat got 52 percent burns, 26-year-old Sonia 30 percent, 60-year-old Moshammat Begum 28 percent, 50-year-old Iduni Begum 40 percent, 8-year-old Mariam Akhtar got 60 percent burns.
Yashin’s uncle Mohammad Nurul Amin said that Yashin’s elder brother Shahadat died last Friday. Yashin also left today. We have no family left.
Incidentally, A fire broke out on the ground floor of a building in Mandail Jaolapara area under Keraniganj Model Police Station due to a gas explosion around 5:30 am on August 30.
