Tigers set 184-run target for Sri Lanka

Bangladesh have set 184 runs target for Sri Lanka in the fifth match of the Asia Cup 2022.
Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and decided to field at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Sabbir Rahman and Mehidy Hasan Miraz opened the innings for Bangladesh.

However, this new opening pair did not last long. Sabbir Rahman, who returned to the team after a long time, backed to the dugout in the third over of the innings. He scored only 5 runs off six balls before being dismissed and caught behind by Asitha Fernando.

Even though Sabbir failed, Miraz was playing aggressively from the start. He became a horror for the Lankan bowlers with his aggressive batting. However, being too aggressive, he threw his wicket. Miraz scored 38 off 26 balls before being bowled by Wanindu Hasaranga.

Mushfiqur Rahim could not take any advantage after getting down to Miraz’s place. He got out with only 4 runs by Chamika Karunaratne.

After losing two wickets quickly, Bangladesh was under some pressure. In such a situation, Shakib Al Hasan and Afif Hossain made a pair of 24 runs. Shakib got out after scoring 24 runs off 22 balls.

Afif and Mahmudullah Riyad’s pair of 57 runs took Bangladesh to the peak of the match. Both played equal 22 balls before being dismissed. However, Afif scored 39 and Riyad scored 27 runs.

In the end, Mosaddek Hossain’s 24 and Taskin Ahmed’s 11-run cameo innings ensured the Tigers’ big collection of 183 runs in 20 overs.
